Should I buy a meal plan?

Studies have shown that purchasing a meal plan supports student success. Meal Plans offer the convenience of on-campus dining without carrying cash. They are a great value, and with a Meal Plan, you have guaranteed meals without the hassle of having to plan, shop for, cook, and clean up after meals.

Where can I use my Flex Meals?

Flex meals can be used to purchase a meal at Lagniappe Cafe, Lagniappe Cafe Express, Bayou Grille, The Plate, Mongolian Wok and Simply-To-Go. These are meal options that include an entree, a side, and a beverage. Flex Meal options are not available at franchise locations.

In the Union, they can also be used to purchase special combos at Lagniappe Cafe. At Cafe Fleur de Lis, Flex Meals can be used to purchase special combos at The Plate, The Wok and Bayou Burger Company.

Do I have to buy a meal plan if I live on campus?

All students living in the housing facilities on campus must participate in one of our ON-CAMPUS RESIDENTS meal plan packages. Students are given three meal plan options from which to choose. The number of meals and amount of declining balance points differ on each plan.

Can I change my meal plan?

Yes. You have one week until after the start of the semester to change your meal plan. Contact University Housing at oncampusliving@louisiana.edu to request a change.

When can I start using my meal plan?

Students may use their declining balance dollars at our retail facilities beginning on the Wednesday before the first day of classes, provided that the balance for their meal plan has been paid. Cafeteria meals will be served beginning the first day of classes.

How do I access my meal plan?

Your meal plan will automatically be activated on your Cajun Card once purchased. You can check your meal plan and DB status on the Cajun Card website.

Can UL Lafayette Dining Services provide assistance for my special diet?

Our goal is to help students focus on health and nutrition. Our Executive Chef will work with you to make sure you have what is needed for special dietary needs. It is encouraged that students download the free app by Sodexo called Bite. Bite allows you to filter the menu for the Dining Room for some allergies and special diets.

What is Declining Balance and where can I use it?

Declining balance points are points that can be used at any of our retail facilities, such as Quiznos and Chick-fil-A, in place of actual dollars. Each point is representative of $1.00 and can be used at any time during the semester. Declining balance points that are included in the meal plan options DO roll over from fall semester to spring semester. Our retail food venues are listed below

What if I lose my Cajun Card card?

It is important to report lost or stolen ID cards immediately to the Cajun Card office in the Student Union.

Can I use Financial Aid to pay for my meal plan?

Yes. Government grants and loans may be used to pay for your meal plans.

What if I run out of money during the semester?

Additional money can be added to an meal plan throughout the semester via our website. Funds may be purchased HERE or by calling (337) 482-6179.
